Fall is back and so are the flavors: Edition 3

As we get farther into the fall season, and the temperature starts getting colder, we tend to want warmer food. For this weeks ingredients we have: mangos, peas and green beans. If you want recipes on each of these ingredients you can look below.

Mango Lime Tarts

With this sweet and tangy dessert, you can get a mouthful of bursting flavors. With this recipe also being vegan, gluten-free, raw vegan, and dairy free.

Ingredients  

~ 1 mango chopped, for puree

Tarlet crust:

~ 1 cup of mulberries

~ ½ cup of pecans

~ 2 large Medjool dates

~ 1 ½ cup of gluten free oats

Mango puree:

~ 4 mangoes, peeled  

~ ⅔ limes, juiced

~ 1 tbls of coconut oil

~ 1 tsp of chia seed

~ pinch of sea salt

~ Splash of maple syrup (optional)

Directions

Blend all of the tarlet ingredients until moist

Press into tarlet pans and freeze for thirty minuets

While crust is setting, puree mango puree ingredients

Gently pop turlets out of pans using a toothpick

Mix, copped mango and puree together and pour into each tarlet

Sweet and Spicy Green Beans

To add a nice Asian twist on you dinner, you can try Sweet and Spicy Green Beans.

Ingredients

~ ¾ pounds of fresh green beans, trimmed

~ 2 tablespoons of soy sauce

~ 1 clove of garlic, minced

~ 1 tablespoon of garlic chili sauce

~ 1 teaspoon of honey

~ 1 teaspoon of canola oil

Directions

Arrange a steamer basket over a pot of boiling water, and steam for 3-4 minuets

In a bowl mix, soy sauce, garlic, garlic chili sauce, and honey

Heat the canola oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add green beans, and fry for 3 to 5 minuets. Pour in the soy sauce mixture. Continue cooking and stirring for 2 minuets, or until liquid is nearly evaporated. Serve immediately.

Creamed Peas

With this sweet and creamy spin on how to serve boring peas, this is a quick and easy side dish.

Ingredients

~ 1 ½ cup of water

~ 1 cup of peas

~ ¼ teaspoon of salt

~ 1 tablespoon of all purpose flour

~ 1 tablespoon of butter

~ 1 cup of milk or as needed

Directions

Bring water, peas, and salt to a boil in a sauce pan; cook until peas are just tender, about 2-3 minuets. Drain and return peas back to sauce pan. Reduce heat to medium and add stir in flour. Add butter and enough milk to cover peas. Stir and cook until creamy, 5-10 minuets.
