With fall finally here and Halloween just around the corner, prime pumpkin season is upon us. Here are some of the best places to pick your prospect jack-o-lantern and participate in other fall festivities.

5. Heap’s Giant Pumpkin Farm

(Minooka, Illinois) Specializing in giant pumpkins, this 25 acre patch raises over 90 varieties of pumpkins, squash and gourds. The farm also offers hay rides, mazes and even brand new attractions like Milo’s Castle Playground!

(Homer Glen, Illinois) Take a hayrack ride or launch squash into the air with the pumpkin chucker at this exciting patch. Along with camel rides, the farm also includes a mining sluice, pig races and a Bengstonville Kids Village to provide fun for the whole family.

3. Curtis Orchard And Pumpkin Patch

(Champaign, Illinois) Themed after the Wizard of Oz, this orchard offers a multitude of activities from apple and pumpkin picking to a goat petting zoo and pony rides. (Arthur, Illinois) Located in the middle of Amish country, The Great Pumpkin Patch is known for its variety of pumpkins, squash and gourds; over 300 varieties, to be exact, from over 30 countries around the world. The patch also offers many activities, including hay and corn mazes, a garden and a variety of animals including pigs, goats and alpacas. Don’t forget to stop by the delicious and aroma filled Homestead Bakery as well as Homestead Seeds before you leave. For a real treat, have lunch at Amish themed restaurant Yoder’s Kitchen on your way out of town!

(Lockport, Illinois) Voted the number 1 pumpkin patch in the U.S. by the Travel Channel and American Towns Media, Siegel’s boasts many attractions, including a 15 acre corn maze with 5 miles of paths to choose from. Other attractions include ziplines, a tire mountain and the Ghost Town Railroad. Among the many delicious food choices and venues at the farms lies apple cider donuts, made fresh daily!

  1. Really, the Great Pumpkin Patch is only 2nd best? They certainly offer the most variety of fall produce – and in the most creative set-up! Love to visit every fall!
